Features:
Microsoft® Windows® 98 integrates the web into your computer desk top providing better system performance and easier system diagnostics and maintenance. With Windows 98, your system plays better and has support for the latest graphics, sound, and multimedia technologies, the easy addition and removal of peripheral devices, and the convergence of the TV and PC in your home.
The Windows 98 operating system delivers better system performance and easier system maintenance. Specific performance enhancements include faster application loading, more hard disk space, faster shutdown, and multi-monitor support. Windows 98 provides increased, built-in support for peripheral devices, (such as Universal Serial Bus (USB), the new port standard, as well as a new generation of peripheral devices such as joysticks, game pads, digital cameras, scanners, soundcards, TV tuner adapter cards, and more).
Windows 98 picks up where Windows 95 left off. The integrated, easy-to-learn, easy-to-use, Web-like interface puts an end to the "tug-of-war" between the Web and the desktop. However, if you prefer to continue working on your computer the way you always have, the Web-like interface is optional. Windows 98 also contains everything you need to make the most of Internet communication, including features that handle e-mail, news reading, and video conferencing.
Windows 98 also provides built-in support for new technologies (such as MMX, Digital Video Disc (DVD), and DirectX® 5.0). It also introduces the capability of broadcast signal reception to your PC as well with new features such as TV Viewer and Program Guide. All of these features, while maintaining the best support for older Windows-based applications and technologies.
